Crews continue to clean up diesel spill near Bella Bella

Crews are continuing to try to clean up a diesel spill in the waters near Bella Bella.

A tug ran aground in Seaforth Channel on October 13th and sank. Jess Housty is a Councillor with the Heiltsuk First Nation. She says the limited resources that were available in the first 72 hours after the spill has made the clean-up more challenging.

Housty says it was heartbreaking for members to watch the spill, especially as Heiltsuk has, for years, called for better spill response capacity on the coast.
