Vote for Courtenay as the next Kraft Hockeyville!

The city of Courtenay has made the top 10 in the Kraft Hockeyville competition.

Courtenay is in the running to host an NHL pre-season game and receive funding for upgrades to the Comox Valley Sports and Aquatics Centre.

Nominator and owner of the Comox Valley Glacier Kings Marsha Webb says the funding would be a big help for the VIJHL team.

She notes they are one of the few teams in the league that doesn’t have their own dressing room. She says players have to pack their equipment back-and-forth every single practice and game.

She notes this makes recruiting and being competitive difficult for the team, who has been in the Valley for over 20 years, because they lose players every season to teams that offer more advanced facilities.

Webb says after March 18th, there will be 2 finalists left to compete for the grand prize. However, the remaining 8 will receive $25,000 towards upgrades to their respective facilities.

Voting opens up on Sunday, March 12th and closes the night of Monday, March 13th. You can vote for the city of Courtenay through the Kraft Hockeyville website at: http://www.khv2017.ca/en/.
