NIC receives funding for more health care seats

North Island College is getting more health care seats thanks to some provincial funding.

The Comox Valley campus will add 10 full-time equivalent (FTE) seats in the 37-week health-care assistant program. The school is receiving $96,800 from the province.

Camosun College and Vancouver Island University were also given funding for additional health care seats. Camosun is getting $165,000 and VIU will receive $83,200.

Since 2008, the province has provided annual one-time funding for additional education seats in health programs. Funding to date totals over $16-million and has created almost 2,000 FTE seats.
