Fire hazard takes a dip after weekend rain

This weekend saw some rain in the Comox Valley, and that may have you wondering how or if that affected the Fire Danger Rating.

Courtenay Deputy Fire Chief Kurt McDonald says yes it did. But he adds current fire bans are still in effect.

McDonald reminds the public to be careful when discarding their cigarettes and if you are doing things like BBQ-ing to make sure you’re a safe distance from nearby buildings.

For a full rundown on fire bans, visit the BC Wildfire Service website.
