VIJHL coach charged with burglary
A Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League hockey coach now finds himself in hot water.
Former NHL player and current coach of the Kerry Park Islanders Dale Purinton has been charged with felony first-degree burglary.
Police say Purinton broke into a Sylvan Beach, New York residence on August 11th and physically assaulted the only person in the home.
Officials add the former New York Ranger then fled the scene. The victim was taken to hospital and later released after being treated.
Purinton last played for the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters. He is set to appear in court at a later date.
