More details now on a recent case where a pedestrian was hit by a car in downtown Courtenay.

Police received a report of a theft of a White and Orange colored gas powered concrete saw on Thursday September 17th. The owner reports the theft occurred sometime over the evening of September 16th from a construction site on the 500 block of 5th street in Courtenay.

On the evening of September 17th police located and stopped an Alberta vehicle which was displaying an expired insurance decal. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to have been consuming alcohol. The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition for 90 days and had his vehicle towed and impounded for 90 days.

The driver was also given tickets for no insurance and failing to produce registration.
