BC Hydro and Power BC are moving to another element of the John Hart Generating Station Replacement Project.
The tail race construction is beginning and BC Hydro spokesperson Stephen Watson says they will dig up a pie shape excavation that will be 32 metres deep, which will allow the water to go into the river system.
Watson says the blasting will start this week.
This part of the project will run into December. Watson says there won’t be any trail closures, and we shouldn’t expect too much noise from this.

Watson adds the surface blasts are highly controlled and are all covered with blast matting.
