Glacier Kings fall to Kerry Park
Islanders fans were on their feet last night at Kerry Park Arena, as they watched their team defeat the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings in some fast-paced VIJHL action.
It was a tough night for the Yetis. They started off strong, with Tyson Slater scoring the game’s opening goal. But soon enough, Kerry Park had put two in the net, going up by one after the first period.
The second period of play was a little more even, with both teams scoring 2 goals. But once time was up, the Islanders had a slight edge with a 4-3 lead.
At the 18:15 mark of the third, Lynden Eddy put in what would be Kerry Park’s final goal of the game. With time running down, Glacier Kings’ Brayden McCartney scored a power-play goal to bring Comox Valley within one.
Unfortunately for Glacier Kings fans, it was too little, too late and when the game came to a close, Kerry Park took the 5-4 win.
Comox Valley now stands at 2-4-0-2, putting them in 3rd place in the North Division. Kerry Park sit in 4th in the league’s South Division.
Up next for Comox Valley is a game against the Oceanside Generals. Puck drops at Oceanside Place at 2:30 today (Sunday, September 27th 2015).
