19 Wing Comox welcomes new wing commander

19 Wing Comox held a Change of Command parade at the base this week to bid farewell to outgoing wing commander Colonel Jim Benninger, and welcome in the new head honcho, Colonel Tom Dunne.

Col. Benninger reflected on his time in Comox, before a crowd of current and retired armed forces members, local politicians, and of course, plenty of friends and family.

Col. Benninger is moving to a new posting in Ottawa, but revealed he does plan to eventually retire in the Comox Valley. He had been the wing commander since 2011.

Col. Dunne meanwhile inspected the troops and introduced himself to his new community. He says he’s ready to get to work.

Col. Dunne has spent time in postings in North Carolina, Ontario and Nova Scotia. He comes to 19 Wing having amassed over 5,000 flight hours.
