Boating accident in Seymour Narrows

This weekend, RCMP West Coast Marine Section Vessel Lindsay was returning to Campbell River when crews came across four people in the water.

RCMP immediately started rescue operations and notified the Coast Guard.

Campbell River RCMP Sergeant Troy Beauregard says the conditions were poor and the men on the boat were not wearing personal flotation safety devices at the time.

Beauregard says it’s very fortunate the marine section crew was coming through at that time. And, investigations continue as to why the boat capsized.

Meanwhile, five British tourists have died and one person remains missing following the sinking of a whale watching vessel near Tofino.
