The Coastal Fire Center says the campfire ban has been lifted for the lower mainland, but it’s still very much in effect for Vancouver Island.

Fire Information Officer Jessica Poutsie says they’ll check again on Monday.

She says the ban was lifted for the lower mainland because the area received more ‘even’ rain that helped re-hydrate the forest.

Poutsie reminds that if you see a wildfire, or an illegal use of fire, give the Coastal Fire Center a call at 1-800-663-5555, or *5555 on your cellphone.
