Boot drive for muscular dystrophy research at 19 Wing

As military firefighters, members of the 19 Wing Comox Fire Department have some deep boots to fill and they are hoping that fellow members of 19 Wing will help them do just that- with donations of change during the annual Boot Drive and carwash in support of Muscular Dystrophy research.

The Boot Drive will take place between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. at the 19 Wing main gate. While traffic disruption along Ryan Road and Military Row is expected to be minimal, 19 Wing thanks members of the public for their understanding in the event of delays during this fundraising effort. Members of 19 Wing are also advised to give themselves additional time to get to work if arriving by car.

“As firefighters, the Boot Drive is near to our hearts,” said Captain John Paradis, Fire Chief at 19 Wing. “We support this drive each year and we hope our fellow military members and civilian personnel at 19 Wing will remember their change when they arrive at work on Wednesday, August 20.”

The firefighters at 19 Wing have taken part in the Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive for just over 10 years and have raised approximately $10,000 in that time.

Following the Boot Drive, the firefighters will then hold a carwash at the Canex parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
