Phone scam making rounds on the Island

The Comox Valley RCMP say a phone scam is making the rounds in the community, and he’s reminding residents that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Constable Don Sinclair says the scam involves an automated voice saying you’ve won a prize with WestJet, and need to collect it. He adds, it appears that no one is immune from it.

He says the best thing to do if you get a call like this, is to just hang up. He adds if you do get taken by the scam, give the Comox Valley RCMP a call at 250-338-1321.

The Better Business Bureau is also sending the warning out, you can check that out here.
