South Island Earthquake a Reminder to be Prepared

An earthquake rattled the south island last night.

It struck just north of Victoria, around 11:30 and was felt across a lot of the south coast.

Alison Bird is a seismologist with Natural Resources Canada.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

Bird notes the quake is a reminder that we live in an earthquake zone and that it’s important to be prepared.

More information on what to include in an emergency kit is available through the government’s Prepared BC website.
