Campbell River School District concerned about funding

The Campbell River School District has written to the province, expressing concerns about downloading of costs. Board Chair Susan Wilson says school boards across BC are under increasing financial pressure.

Wilson says some examples of downloading include the cost of buying technology as mandated by the province, which cost the district $155,000.

Wilson adds that along with additional costs, the province holds back a portion of the district’s funding each year and gives it out later.

She says this year, the province has decided that hold-back will not go out, which was money the district had been counting when doing up its budget.
