Memorial walk held for missing and murdered indigenous women

Residents of the Comox Valley gathered together at Simms Park yesterday for an annual march honoring missing and murdered indigenous women, and raising awareness on violence.

Spokesperson Kristy Bell says this year, organizers with the Comox Valley Transition Society partnered up with the group One Billion Rising.

Together they set up a dance after the march. The dance is a way to rise up against violence, according to Bell.

Bell adds the march has been held for the past 26 years and events take place around the world.
