New Fire Safety Act for the Province
The province has a new Fire Safety Act.
The new act will replace the Fire Services Act, which was in place since 1979.
Minister of State for Emergency Preparedness Naomi Yamamoto says they want to improve the fire code compliance monitoring, and enable local authorities to appoint their own fire safety personnel.
Yamamoto says this is one way the province is demonstrating safety for British Columbians, and that we’re all prepared for emergency disasters.
