Very disappointed! That response from Comox Valley School District Superintendent Sherry Elwood on exploratory mediated talks collapsing over the weekend and teachers hitting the picket lines.

Elwood says it appears no negotiations at any level whatsoever are taking place right now.

Meanwhile Elwood says the Comox Valley School District simply doesn’t have the resources to take care of young students, with some valley parents looking to drop off their kids at local schools this week.

There is no sign of a teachers deal getting done anytime soon, after mediator Vince Ready bailed out of preliminary negotiations over the weekend, declaring an impasse with both sides too far apart on all major contract issues. Ready has not formally pulled the plug on mediated talks, but has temporarily placed them on hold.
