The Comox Valley School Board has voted to keep Puntledge Park open.

The board had been considering closing the elementary school as part of a cost-saving measure.

Katherine Tinmouth was at the meeting to support the school community.

She says she was thrilled with the decision.

Board Chair Tom Weber says the district is still looking for ways to address its deficit.

Weber says the goal for the board is to identify as many savings measures as possible and then select which cuts to make this year.
