Supporting victims of domestic violence

The Comox Valley Domestic Violence Unit is trying to raise awareness of the supports available for the victims of domestic violence.

Constable Keeley Deley says reaching out for help is often the hardest step and the hope is that raising awareness will make it easier for victims to come forward.

She says there is a huge support system out there, and many resources available throughout the Comox Valley.

She says there are a number of reasons that victims may not seek help – lack of support, being in a new community, being unfamiliar with the process, feeling isolated, financial support and what could happen to their children if they do come forward.
