Another huge rally outside MLA Mcrae's office

Sounds of protest, and even some songs could be heard outside local MLA Don McRae’s 5th street office Monday morning, as another rally in support of BC teachers was staged, this time drawing in well over a hundred people. The large crowd spilled out from the sidewalk out onto 5th street itself, forcing cars to detour.

Plenty of notable figures were in attendance, including Courtenay Councillor Ronna Rae Leonard, and local singer songwriter Helen Austin. Austin performed a few tunes with her daughter Daisy.

District Teachers’ Association President Nick Moore met with McRae during the rally, but afterwards revealed that nothing new was said.

A community staged BBQ for teachers is being held Wednesday at Simms Park. It’s going from 4 till 6 pm, with donations accepted.
