High school graduations are about to begin and summer parties are around the corner, so the RCMP is reminding residents of the risks and responsibilities involved in hosting parties.

Constable Sara Clark says hosts are civilly liable for any circumstances that stem from consumption on their property, whether it’s by adults or by youth.

She notes that a host can be charged and fined $575 for serving alcohol to a minor at their party.

Clark says it’s important that hosts ensure guests have a safe way home, if alcohol is being consumed.
