Teacher’s Association concerned about Alternate Instructional Week

The Comox District Teacher’s Association is expressing concerns about a proposed change to an Alternate Instructional Week.

The change in the week is being made to help address the budget shortfall the school district is facing.

CDTA President Nick Moore says the change will mean the cut of 18 teachers and a shortened day for students. He says secondary teachers will see a large increase in their workload.

Moore says the move will have impacts across the district. He notes that it will affect over 7000 students and over 650 teachers, as well as support staff and administrators.
