The Comox Valley School Board has passed a balanced budget for 2016-17.
The district was facing a $2.8 million deficit.
It found savings through some staff reductions and the move to an alternate instruction week.
Board chair Tom Weber says the board and the district will be monitoring the new schedule to ensure that it is meeting the needs of students and staff.

The district is currently gathering feedback on the week schedule and is aiming to have the schedule finalized by the end of this week or early next week.
