RCMP and Coastal Fire Centre reminding graduates to be safe

Graduation season is upon us, which means summer parties are on the way.

RCMP is reminding parents and grads to ensure grad parties are safe and following the rules.

Constable Tim Kenning says it’s important that everyone stays safe, especially when it comes to the consumption of alcohol. He notes that RCMP will be out looking for impaired drivers.

Kenning says if you’re heading out to a grad party, you should tell someone where you’re going and make sure you have a way to call for a safe ride home.

The Coastal Fire Centre is also asking partiers to be extra careful this time of year.

Fire Information Officer Marg Drysdale says anyone planning to have a party on the beach needs to know that bonfires are not allowed.

Drysdale says it’s important to have all the proper equipment to put out the fire once the party is done.

She says if you’re caught having a bonfire, everyone sitting around the fire will be fined.
