The Mayor of Courtenay says the community has lost a great man.
Recently retired director of community services Randy Wiwchar passed away yesterday following a hard-fought battle with mesothelioma.
Larry Jangula says Wiwchar was a tireless advocate for the community and was the best example of what community service should be.
Jangula says Wiwchar had a gift of being able to bring people together to work on projects that would benefit the community.

Jangula notes that Wiwchar shied away from the spotlight, but it’s important to recognize the many community resources and events that would not exist today without his hard work.
