Fire crews kept busy this weekend

Oyster River fire crews were called out to a house fire this weekend.

Fire Chief Bruce Green says the fire broke out at a house on York road.

Green says no one was home at the time of the fire. Green is also thanking Campbell River fire crews, who came down to help fight the blaze, and Courtenay crews, who were put on standby.

Comox Fire Crews were called out to a fire on the weekend as well. Chief Gord Schreiner says a home owner had accidentally set a hedge on fire while doing weed management.

Schreiner says there was some minor damage to the trailer. He says it’s a good reminder of the need to be extra cautious at this time of year.
