Queen of Burnaby to be temporarily removed from service

The Queen of Burnaby is set to be taken out of service for repairs.

BC Ferries has announced that the vessel has developed a propeller oil leak.

Ferries VP of Strategic Planning and Community Engagement, Mark Collins, says the ship will be taken into dry dock on Saturday.

Collins says ships will be moved around the accommodate passengers. He says the Island Sky will be moved over to the Comox-Powell River route. It will also serve the Texada Island run. On the Earls Cove-Saltery Bay route – the North Island Princess and MV Quinitsa will serve passengers.

Collins says there will also be some schedule changes.

The Queen of Burnaby is expected to be back in service by the end of next week. For more details, visit the BC Ferries website.
