Charges are pending as the investigation continues into a fatal collision on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay.
Yesterday afternoon, at around 2:00 PM, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Constable Rob Gardner says a car was in the Northbound lane when it struck the pedestrian before hitting two other vehicles near the Cliffe and 26th Street intersection.
Gardner says the 71-year-old pedestrian was rushed to hospital but was pronounced deceased upon arrival. Gardner adds that the 46-year-old female driver who hit the victim faces charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. She will appear in court at a later date.
The Comox Valley RCMP continue to assist the BC Coroners Service with the investigation.
