A community event is being held this weekend to thank the Comox Valley for its support of Alison Azer and her children.
The children were taken by their father to the Middle East a year ago and Azer has been fighting to get them returned to Canada.
Event spokesperson Maren Hills-Amazzal says it’s been a challenging year for Alison and everyone involved in the case.
The event goes from 11 to 2 at Simms Park in Courtenay on Sunday.
