Campfire ban being lifted

Campfires will again be allowed on Northern Vancouver Island and on the Coast.

Fire Information Officer Marg Drysdale says as of 12:00 PM on Tuesday (August 30th), the campfire ban is being lifted north of Buckley Bay, but remains in place for the South Island.

Drysdale says they expected quite a bit of rainfall throughout the Coastal Fire Centre, but they want to be extra cautious, hence the ban remaining in place on the South Island.

Drysdale says the Coastal Fire Centre is still urging people to be cautious and responsible with campfires, as there are still some dry areas, even with the recent rainfall.
