UBCM gets underway

The Union of BC Municipalities conference gets underway today in Victoria.

Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula says he wants to address the disparity between different-sized communities when it comes to policing costs. He notes that some areas pay as little as $30 per household for policing while other communities can pay up to $300 per household.

He says there are a lot of layers to that particular issue.

Jangula adds he’s also like to discuss plans for the North Courtenay Connector and plans for the area around the new Comox Valley Hospital. The UBCM goes through Friday in Victoria.
