The Comox Valley Arts Council turns 50 years old this year. Board member Wendy Nixon says it’s surreal to think the council has been around that long.

Nixon notes the council has helped in opening the Sid Williams Theatre and supporting a bulk of live performance and visual art shows.

“The Valley is incredibly rich in artistic history as far as the performing arts and the visual arts all go…the [CV Arts Council] has been a quiet but strong back-bone of lots of artistic projects in the Valley”, says Nixon.

A 50-year celebration gala is taking place on Saturday, April 1st at the Filberg Centre in Courtenay. For further details about the gala, visit comoxvalleyarts.com.
