Sewer work on this week at Goose Spit

Construction begins this week on a new sewer force-main along Goose Spit.

Kris La Rose is the Senior Manager of Water and Wastewater Services for the CVRD. He says the existing force-main is aging and needs to be replaced.

“It was actually originally the town of Comox’s sewage outfall prior to the installation of the regional system in the early 80’s, so it’s [at least] 50 years old and it had previously sprung a leak [which] was repaired but we are concerned about using that infrastructure.”

La Rose notes there will need to be a closure of the Goose Spit road in order to complete a portion of the work. He says the public will be kept up-to-date when the dates for that closure are confirmed.
