Local MP John Duncan reacts to Wednesday's shootings in Ottawa
The country is still reacting to the shootings that took place at the War Memorial and Parliament Building in Ottawa yesterday, that saw Canadian Forces reservist Nathan Cirillo shot dead while standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Local MP John Duncan was in the Parliament building when several shots were fired off, and he describes the scene.
Duncan says now, the country needs to come together to heal.
It was an emotional day on the hill, as Sergeant at Arms Kevin Vickers was given a standing ovation as he lead a ceremonial parade into the House of Commons.
After a speech, Prime Minister Stephen Harper shook the hand of Vickers, then crossed the floor to embrace Liberal leader Justin Trudeau, and then NDP leader Thomas Mulcair.
