19 Wing Comox spokesperson reflects on "very tough week" for Canadian Forces
The killing of two Canadian Forces members this week, in separate incidents, hits very close to home for those at 19 Wing Comox. Base spokesperson Captain Trevor Reid says 53 year old Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, who was run down in a Quebec hit-and-run attack, served as a military firefighter at the Comox base in the 1990’s, as part of a 28 year career in the military.
Captain Reid reflects on a very tough week for base members, but says the killings will not have any impact on their primary duty to protect all Canadians.
Meanwhile 19 Wing Comox has substantially beefed up their security regime at the base, although Captain Reid would not go into detail on the heightened security measures, only to say they will be in place for some time.
