The Coastal Fire Centre campfire ban has been rescinded, and local crews are reminding residents about municipal rules.

Cumberland Fire Chief Mike Williamson says residents are again allowed to have backyard recreational fires with a permit.

“So we’ve had some wet weather and Coastal has lifted the ban. Cumberland has only one permit left and that’s the backyard recreational fire and that’s the one-and-a-half foot by one-and-a-half-foot. We’re gonna allow that to happen again at the campsites.”

Williamson says permits can be picked up for free at the Village Hall. For further details on burning regulations in Cumberland, visit cumberland.ca/outdoor-burning.
