Fall training is set to get underway this weekend at the Comox Fire Department.

Chief Gord Schreiner says the training centre in Comox hosts not only members of the Comox crews, but also firefighters from across the Island and lower mainland.

He says the fall training will cover live fire courses, hazmat courses and survival training.

“The public can watch it from a bit of a distance from the edges of the property. A lot of it is done indoors inside the building so there’s not a whole lot to see but we certainly would welcome the public to drop by and we can tour them and let them know what’s going on.”

Schreiner says in the past 15 years, close to 5000 firefighters have trained out of Comox.
