Suspect in deadly hit and run makes court appearance

The 55 year old male suspect in that deadly hit and run in Fanny Bay that claimed the life of Comox Valley teacher Paul Bally has been identified as Timothy David Prad, a longtime resident of the Bowser area who, after appearing in Courtenay Court this afternoon, is now charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He has been released from custody pending future court proceedings.

We asked RCMP Sergeant Mark Whitworth whether Wednesday’s public appeal by Bally’s wife Evelyn, triggered the tip to the RCMP which led to the suspect, but he wouldn’t quite confirm that, but did suggest it played a role, along with earlier RCMP appeals for public information.

A major RCMP investigation continues by a large team of police investigators, including an RCMP Accident Recontructionist Team.
