Commuting between Comox and Courtenay will be easier than ever with improvements coming to the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) transit system.
Effective January 5, 2015 the new Route #34 C2C Express will deliver limited-stop service on 18 weekday peak time trips and nine Saturday peak time trips. The new and direct route will operate between downtown Courtenay and downtown Comox via North Island College with a trip time of less than 20 minutes. The new Route #34 C2C Express schedule is designed around typical business hours in support of commuters in Courtenay and Comox and timed to meet high demand at North Island College.
Also new in the New Year, on the Route #12 North Valley Connector, all weekday trips leaving Oyster River will travel along Veterans Memorial Parkway and stop at the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre and North Island College. The routing realignment will better serve North Courtenay and Oyster River residents who are attending North Island College.
Route #2 Cumberland will now transit along Cumberland Road via Ulverston Avenue and 7th Avenue to downtown Cumberland before routing back to Driftwood Mall and downtown Courtenay. The new routing will allow for direct routing from Courtenay to Cumberland and will allow better access for Cumberland residents on the west side of the village.
Fare Change January 1, 2015
Customers in the Comox Valley Transit System will see modest fare increases on cash and ticket trips; monthly passes remain unchanged. The last fare increase in the Comox Valley was in 2011.
