New Christian school opens in Comox

The gymnasium was packed to the brim with new students, proud parents were snapping photos at every turn, and the gentle chorus of hymns wafted through the early Spring air, as the doors officially opened on a brand new Christian School in Comox on Monday.

The school, named the Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Academy, has a permanent home at 1475 Noel avenue in Comox, the former site of Brooklyn elementary.

Principal Bernadette Pitcher says, it’s taken a lot of work to get here.

“This has really been in the hearts of people for 35 years,” says Pitcher. “Through many different twists and turns on the road, we are here and it’s a wonderful thing.”

The academy is named after Phil and Jennie Gaglardi, who’s foundation donated 1.2 million dollars to help make the school become a reality.
