Tennis court re-opening in Comox

The Province of British Columbia, the Town of Comox and the Comox Valley Tennis Club are pleased to announce that the significant tennis court reconstruction project has been completed. The project included the total removal and reconstruction of tennis courts 1-4 and includes enhanced viewing areas for players and spectators. This important project was a joint partnership supported by the Provincial Government, the Town of Comox and the Comox Valley Tennis Club. Through the Province’s Community Recreation Program, the Town received a grant of $400,000.00 to make the installation of the Outdoor Fitness Circuit and the reconstruction of the tennis courts possible. “I am so pleased to see the Town of Comox provide such great recreational leadership. The tennis courts and the seniors outdoor fitness circuit will be an asset for all Comox Valley residents,” said MLA, Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation, the Honourable Don McRae. “By completing the Health Beat Outdoor Seniors’ Fitness Circuit and the reconstruction of the Tennis Courts during our term as Council we have provided great health benefit opportunities to our citizens”, Mayor Ives stated. To celebrate the successful completion of this project, you are invited to participate at the official opening celebration of the Tennis Courts, scheduled for April 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at Anderton Park, 175 Stewart Street, Comox. -Contributed by Town of Comox
