Owners want to sell Fishermen’s Lodge Pub after outrage over access permit plan

The owners of the Fishermen’s Lodge Pub in Oyster River want to sell.

A since deleted post on the pub’s Facebook page last Saturday caused a massive outrage. It outlined the owners’ plans to charge $10 per person, per day for recreational use access permits to the waterfront property.

In an interview with the Comox Valley Record the owners, Olga and Roman Anthony, say the angry feedback, which included death threats, has prompted them to look at selling the business. Their plan is to make a proposal to the Strathcona Regional District to buy the property.

The SRD confirmed to The Goat yesterday that there is already fully public access to the waterfront adjacent to the Fishermen’s Lodge Pub. We’ve reached out to the Anthonys and to the Strathcona Regional District for further comment.
