COURTENAY, B.C- A burnt out house at the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and 17th Street is getting torn down.
The home went up in flames early in the morning on September 12, with the blaze consuming the carport and a vehicle within it.
Since the fire, the structure has been fenced off, with the wrecked vehicle still inside the carport.
However, residents passing by will be able to see the home getting torn down in the next month.
The job is being handled by Anu Enterprises, and foreman George Lenz is hoping to have the teardown finished by April.
He indicated that the home is now completely empty. The burnt-out car will be removed during the course of the demolition, and the materials collected during the work will be sorted before disposal.
Containment walls for the work went up this afternoon.
