Courtenay man arrested after fentanyl found during traffic stop

COURTENAY, B.C- Drug trafficking charges have been laid against a local man.

According to a release from the Comox Valley RCMP, police arrested 39 year old Jason Dickie on March 8, in the area of 17 Street and McPhee Avenue. The arrest was made while officers were investigating a possible motor vehicle infraction.

While the investigation was happening, Dickie was taken into custody. A subsequent search found a quantity of drugs, which are suspected to be fentanyl, marijuana, Oxycontin, and crystal methamphetamine. A large amount of cash was also seized.

The exact amounts of the seized drugs and cash were not released by police.

Dickie is now facing several charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking.

“The Comox Valley RCMP continues its commitment to keeping our citizens and community safe by targeting street level drug dealing,” said Corporal Cliffe, Client Services NCO, in the police news release.

“This is an example of our front line police officers working in concert with our plainclothes sections and  maintaining their focus onpriority offenders.”
