Public invited to weigh-in on CVRD sewer planning process

COMOX VALLEY, B.C. – Residents of the Comox Valley are invited to a series of workshops to discuss the Regional District’s plans for sewer services.

The CVRD is embarking on its Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) for Courtenay and Comox.

The process looks to develop a plan for the future of wastewater treatment in the region. This includes conveyance (piping and pump stations), as well as the treatment plant.

The Regional District is hosting a workshop Monday night, June 18 at the Native Son’s Hall and on Tuesday, June 19 at the Comox Golf Club. Each session, titled Let’s Talk Poop: Our Goals for Sewer Service, is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

These events are a way for residents to share their ideas and feedback for the future of wastewater in the Comox Valley.

A Technical Advisory Committee and a Public Advisory Committee (PAC) are also set to be created. Residents interested in joining the PAC can learn more via the CVRD’s website at

A notice from the RD stated that there are around six spots available.

Members are expected to attend between five and 10 committee meetings over an 18-month period.

Those who would like to share their thoughts but cannot attend the open workshops this week, or join the PAC, can voice their comments online at

All input collected from the workshops and online will be forwarded to both the Technical Advisory Committee and the Public Advisory Committee.
