17th Street paving rescheduled

COURTENAY, B.C. – Paving work scheduled for next week has been rescheduled for later in July.

The work will take place on 17th Street between Cliffe Avenue and Fitzgerald on July 9th through 12th, 2018. The work was originally planned for July 3rd through 5th.

The project contractor rescheduled the repaving work, which will see crews on scene overnight between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each day.

Once the paving starts, the road will be subject to intermittent lane closures and single-lane alternating traffic during construction hours.

On-street parking will be restricted during this time, and traffic personnel will be on scene. Safety signage will also be posted.

During the project, the existing pavement will be ground up, removed and replaced with new asphalt.

The project is part of the city’s long-range asset management planning.

Questions or concerns can be directed towards the Public Works Department at (250) 338-1525.
