Free transit fares to be offered on Canada Day

COMOX VALLEY, B.C. – Getting to the Canada Day festivities will be made a lot easier thanks to a partnership between BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District.

They’re offering free fares all day on Sunday, July 1st. In addition to this, there will be special service on select routes throughout the day.

This includes a 15-minute service on route 1 Fitzgerald, and one-hour service on routes 2 Cumberland, 6 Uplands and 8 Willemar.

Routes 12 North Valley Connector and 34 C2C Express, which do not normally operate on Sundays, will offer special service.

Route 12 North Valley Connector will run one trip in the morning and one in the afternoon, and route 34 C2C Express will offer service twice every hour (leaving from Comox Centre and finishing at the bottom of the hill, where Ryan Road meets the Old Island Highway).

The 5th Street Bridge will be closed for the parade, so all affected routes will be modified for the day.

Regular fares and scheduling will resume on Monday, July 2nd.
