Sewer construction works moves off of roadways

COURTENAY, B.C. – The Greenwood Trunk sewer project is moving along.
According to the CVRD Twitter account, the project is going well and work is largely off Ryan Road, to move to Military Row in late August/early September.
Construction began in June on the Greenwood Trunk Sanitary sewer collection line, which will increase capacity in the region’s sewer service.
The new line will bypass the Courtenay pump station and move wastewater from East Courtenay and CFB Comox directly to the sewage treatment plant on Brent Road.
Diverting wastewater away from the Courtenay pump station will help to accommodate future growth in the community,  the CVRD noted on its website.
The main work on Ryan Road is now complete with the sewer main successfully installed, and there will be another day of interruption when paving is scheduled, according to the CVRD.
Active construction work is now off of roadways (moving along right-of-ways behind Greenwood Crescent to connect to Anderton Road).
This is expected to continue to mid-September, at which time work will circle back to Military Row.
