COURTENAY, B.C- The police for the Comox Valley handed out a lot of tickets to local youth this summer.
However, those tickets were given after they were caught being good people, as opposed to bad.
According to a news release from the RCMP detachment, roughly 125 “positive tickets” were handed out throughout the summer. They were given to youth who demonstrated good behaviour, such as riding a bike safely, playing outside, or being a good friend.
The officers who handed out the tickets also had a good experience with the program as well.
“We got a chance to break away from our day, have a friendly conversation with local youth, and hand them something they did not expect,” said Constable Monika Terragni, spokesperson for the Comox Valley RCMP.
“It was rewarding.”
The detachment also thanked the businesses who participated in the ticket program, which included McDonalds, Subway, Tim Hortons, and 7-11.
